Wardrobe Feeling Cluttered? An Adelaide Personal Stylist Shares How to Fix It
Opening your wardrobe shouldn’t feel overwhelming. But for so many people, it does, because their space is crammed, unorganised, and filled with clothes that don’t reflect their current life or style.
As an Adelaide personal stylist, I’ve worked with clients across all walks of life; from professionals and creatives to busy parents, and what I see time and time again is this: wardrobes that aren’t working with you.
Here’s how to bring clarity, ease and style back into your wardrobe, using the same approach I take with my own clients.
1. Your Go-To Items Should Be Front and Centre
One of the biggest issues I see is everything being mixed together. Seasonal pieces, special occasion outfits, and everyday staples are all blended into one space, making it hard to find anything quickly.
Instead, move your go-to items (those you wear weekly) to the prime position in your wardrobe. Whether it’s your workwear or relaxed weekend staples, these should be the easiest to grab.
2. Move “Sometimes” Pieces to the Side
If something doesn’t fit, is out of season, or only gets worn on rare occasions, it shouldn’t be taking up your main rail space. Shift those pieces to the side, a high shelf, or a separate storage area. This frees up your wardrobe for the items you actually reach for.
3. Make Space for What Sparks Joy
Don’t save outfits for “one day.” If you own it, wear it. I encourage clients to build wardrobes they’re excited to open each morning, not ones filled with guilt, overwhelm or confusion. If you love it, make it visible. If you don’t, it might be time to let it go.
4. A Wardrobe Edit is More Than a Declutter
When I work with clients in their homes, we don’t just tidy. We reimagine how their wardrobe works for their current lifestyle. We restyle existing pieces, identify what’s missing, and make everything easier to access. Often, my clients end up with fewer clothes, but far more outfit options.
5. Based in Adelaide? Let’s Work Together
If you’re feeling stuck with your wardrobe and don’t know where to start, I can help. As a trusted personal stylist in Adelaide, I offer in-home wardrobe edits, personal shopping, and full style transformations, all tailored to your lifestyle, your body, and your budget.
You don’t need more clothes. You need the right clothes, and a wardrobe that supports the way you live.
